For the Love of Hawaii and a Birthday

I shared this beautiful rug recently that I had started too many years ago and my sister took it, masterfully designed and executed all the background and border, and presented it to me for my birthday.

Well, my birthday is also my sister's birthday.  I don't know how my mom was able to pull it off, but she had two daughters born on the same day.  Just a few years in between :->

Inspired by my BFF Beth, I made this pin cushion for my sister.

My sister loves all things Hawaiian because you see, she was married there, raised a family there, owned her own business there and lived there for many years.  So vintage Hawaiiana is dear to her heart.

  1. Is your mom crafty too? Seems like there’s some crafty genes in the family.
Those squirrels on the border of the rug are perfect – they look like they’re running for their lives.

  2. hAPPY bIRTHDAY! There is a family in my neighborhood with three daughters that all share the same birthday. Two just happened to be born on that day a couple of years apart. The third daughter was due very close to the double birthday date and they induced. I think it is kind of neat to have one big birthday for all three little girls!
